Your Sons & Daughters Shall Prophesy - Prophetic Gifts Today In The New Testament Church

The Use of Prophecy in Church Today

the testimonies.) But when people have received something that flows with the service, they should be encouraged as much as possible. If a church member has any insecurity about the relevancy, accuracy or timing, it should be shared with the microphone monitor. This pre liminary step is one practical way of judging or evaluating prophecy. By being identified before the prophecy is given, a possible problem can be handled quietly and efficiently. A good monitor, for instance, would have intercepted the following prophecy before it got out to the congregation: "I am sending you two prophets and a third man, whose name I can't remember." Another example is this humorous little admonition, told me by a friend, which was actually given in a small Alaska church:

Hick-a-mo-see, I say unto thee, Thou shalt only watch News on thy TV.

The worship leader will greatly benefit by this system. By relying on the monitor to allow the proper contribution at the proper time, he or she is freed to concentrate more fully on the Lord and on the quality of worship. This system also maintains organized continuity and prophetic flow so that those on the platform are better informed as to what is happening. The microphone monitor can be instrumental in training and encour aging both first-timers and veterans in stepping out in faith. The mike can be adjusted and personal suggestions given. The monitor has the author ity of the leadership to disallow a person to share and also to bring cor rection discreetly if someone at the mike is going on too long, violating microphone guidelines or saying something unbiblical. If a person needs co.rrection or adjustment, the situation presents the microphone monitor with a real teaching and pastoral opportunity. Suggestions on how to prophesy and how to cooperate with the church leadership for this congregational prophecy will be discussed in the next chapter.
