Sons and daughters, New Covenant believers in Christ, all part of the Christian community. A team player work ing with 5-fold Church leadership and local elders. Not a superstar, part of a plurality. All Christians have the potential to prophesy.

More forthtelling: centered on edification, comfort and exhortation. Given weekly in church setting and depen dent on faith level of the person. Primary role: church renewal. Usually help-oriented forthtelling. Usually non directive, more confirming. Formative function: continuous guidance to carry out Christ's mission.

Local church situations; domestic life of New Covenant believers. Contemporary events including persecution of the early Church.

Jesus Christ, God's Son, Head of the Church. The local church made up of Spirit-filled people in right standing with God, through the New Covenant of Jesus Christ, drawn from every nation. The Church at large. Sometimes individuals (as Paul to kings).

Under the Old Testament

God the Father, the Lord of glory. Nations of Judah, Israel, foreign nations; also selected in dividuals. Non-Spirit-filled people. Most of the time the audiences are in covenant relationship with God through the teachings of Abraham, Moses and David. Military threats, religious compromises, social upheaval, crises. All events seen through the grid of the turbulent OT and its covenants.

Both foretelling and forthtelling, often involving judgment. A specific, more focused task. Given in crisis, under strong anointing. Objective: national renewal. Usually crisis oriented foretelling. Directive prophecy. Foundational function: truth about God's nature and ways.
