EZEKIEL 40:48

EZEKIEL 41:11

1311

48 1 And HE brought me to the porch of the house, and measured each post of the porch, five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side: and the breadth of the gate was three cubits on this side, and 2 three cubits on that side. P 49 1 The length of the porch was 3 twenty cubits, and the breadth 4 eleven cubits; and he brought me by the steps whereby they went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side. P Ezekiel 41 The Millennial Temple’s dimensions (Note - This portion of Ezekiel’s prophecy took place in the 33rd year of King Nebuchadnezzar’s reign) 1 1 Afterward 5 HE brought me to the temple, and measured the posts, 6 six cu- bits broad on the one side, and six cubits broad on the other side, which was the breadth of the tabernacle. P 2 1 And the breadth of the door was 7 ten cubits; and the sides of the door were 8 five cubits on the one side, and 8 five cubits on the other side: and he measured the length thereof, 9 forty cubits: and the breadth, twenty cubits. P 3 1 Then went HE inward, and measured the post of the door, 10 two cubits; and the door, six cubits; and the breadth of the door, seven cubits. bits, before the temple: and he said unto me, This is the most holy place . P T he wall and the side buildings 5 1 After he measured the wall of the house, six cubits; and the breadth of every side chamber, 10 four cubits, round about the house on every side. P 6 1 And the side chambers were three, one over another, and thirty in order; and they entered into the wall which was of the house for the side chambers round about, that they might have hold, but they had not hold in the wall of the house. P 7 1 And there was an enlarging, and a wind- ing about still upward to the side chambers: for the winding about of the house went still upward round about the house: therefore the breadth of the house was still upward, and so increased from the lowest chamber to the highest by the midst. P 8 1 I saw also the height of the house round about: the foundations of the side cham- bers were 11 a full reed of six great cubits. P 9 1 The thickness of the wall, which was for the side chamber without, was five cu- bits: and that which was left was the place of the side chambers that were within. P 10 1 And between the chambers was the wideness of twenty cubits round about the house on every side. P 11 1 And the doors of the side chambers were toward the place that was left, one door toward the north, and another door

40:49 Like the outer and inner gates which led into the inner court, the Temple porch was entered by ten to fourteen ascending steps ( the steps whereby they went up ). Once again, as one approaches the Temple (the dwelling-place of God), an increasing measure and degree of holiness is demanded. 41:1 In chapter forty, Ezekiel envisions what the Temple and the temple area will look like during the Millennium. In chapter forty-one, he is given the Temple’s dimensions by the LORD ( HE ). NOTE –This chapter can be divided into four subdivisions: (1) The measuring of the interior of the Temple (vs 1-4); (2) The measuring of the wall and the side buildings (vs 5-11); (3) The measuring of the gizrah (separate place – vs 12-14); and (4) The measuring of the projecting portions of the temple building (vs 15-26). 41:3 You will notice that Ezekiel did not enter into the holy place in order to gain its measurements; the LORD Himself entered ( Then went HE inward ), as this could not be entered by a mere priest such as Ezekiel (Ezk 1:3). Only the high priest could enter the holy place and eventually the Holy of Holies (Exo 30:10 and Lev 16:1-17), and since the LORD JESUS is our high priest (Heb 5:1-5,10 & 8:1-2 & 9:11-14), HE alone was able to enter in to take its measurements. 41:4 The Holy of Holies ( the most holy place ) was an exact square of twenty cubits, as in the temple of Solomon (I Ki 6:20). The Pulpit Commentary notes: In the temple at Jerusalem there was a holy place, and a holy of holies, or, in the language of Ezekiel, the most holy place. 1
