where they washed the 5 burnt offering. P 39 1 And in the porch of the gate were two tables on this side, and two tables on that side, to slay thereon the burnt offering and the 6 sin offering and the 7 trespass offering. P 40 1 And at the side without, as one goeth up to the entry of the north gate, were two tables; and on the other side, which was at the porch of the gate, were two tables. P 41 1 Four tables were on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of the gate; eight tables, whereupon they slew their 8 sacrifices. P 42 1 And the four tables were of hewn stone for the burnt offering, of 9 a cubit and an half long, and a cubit and an half broad, and 10 one cubit high: whereupon also they laid the instruments wherewith they slew the burnt offering and the sacrifice. P 43 1 And within were hooks, an hand broad, fastened round about: and upon the tables was the flesh of the offering. P 44 1 And without the inner gate were the chambers of 11 the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate hav- ing the prospect toward the north. P 45 And 12 HE said unto me, 1 This cham- ber, whose prospect is toward the south, is for the priests, 13 the keepers of the charge of the house. P 46 1 And the chamber whose prospect is toward the north is for the priests, 14 the keepers of the charge of the 15 altar: these are the sons of 16 Zadok among the sons of Levi, which come near to the LORD to minister unto him. P 47 1 So HE measured the court, an 17 hun- dred cubits long, and an hundred cubits broad, foursquare; and the 18 altar that was before the house. P

according to these measures: and there were windows in it and in the arches there- of round about: it was fifty cubits long, and five and twenty cubits broad. P 30 1 And the arches round about were five and twenty cubits long, and 2 five cu- bits broad. P 31 1 And the arches thereof were toward the utter court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof: and the going up to it had eight steps. P The east gate of the inner court 32 1 And HE brought me into the inner court toward the east: and HE measured the gate according to these measures. P 33 1 And the little chambers thereof, and the posts thereof, and the arches there- of, were according to these measures: and there were windows therein and in the arches thereof round about: it was 3 fifty cubits long, and 4 five and twenty cubits broad. P The north gate of the inner court 34 1 And the arches thereof were toward the outward court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof, on this side, and on that side: and the going up to it had eight steps. P 35 1 And HE brought me to the north gate, and measured it according to these measures; P 36 1 The little chambers thereof, the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, and the windows to it round about: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits. P 37 1 And the posts thereof were toward the utter court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof, on this side, and on that side: and the going up to it had eight steps. 40:31 The difference in the number of ascending steps between the steps that lay outside the wall (seven ascending steps – vs 6,22,26 ) and inside the wall ( eight steps ) points not only to the higher sanctity in general which attached itself to the inner court, but to the truth that, as one approached the Temple (the dwelling-place of God), an increasing measure and degree of holiness was demanded (vs 49). NOTE – According to Jewish tradition, each of the ascending fifteen steps that eventually led into the inner court corresponded with the number of pilgrim-psalms (Psalms 120-134), which were supposed to have been sung, one upon each step, by the choir of Levites ( Psalm 120 Subject Head; A song of degrees ) 40:41 “ Sacrifices ” will continue during the 1000-year Millennial reign of CHRIST ( Rev 11:15 ), only they will be seen as memorials (looking back at what Jesus did for us), not depictions (pictures of Jesus – Jn 1:29).
