seek thee early: for when 1 thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. P 10 2 Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD. 11 LORD, when 1 thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them. P 12 LORD, 1 thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us. P 13 O LORD our God, 3 other lords besides thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name. 14 They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish. 15 1 Thou hast increased the nation, O LORD, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth. P 16 LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them. 17 Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O LORD. 18 We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen. 26:19 Sadly, there are some religious movements (like the Apostolic Church - I Sam 28:15 ) that have tried to use this Scripture ( Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust ) and others like it (Eccl 9:5, Job 19:25-27 and Dan 12:2) to prove that the dead are not waiting around in Heaven and/or Hell for the resurrection, but are asleep and unconscious in the grave, and will only be awakened at the resurrection ( if they’ve earned Heaven). However, according to the clear teaching of Scripture (Mk 12:18-27), people who die (like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) are still alive… either in Heaven or Hell. They are not “soul sleeping” ( Isa 14: 4- 9 -10, Ezk 32: 17- 21 -32, Lk 23:39-43, II Cor 5:8, Mt 17:1-3, II Cor 12:1-3, Rev 12:7-10 & 14:1-3 & 15:1-3, Lk 16:19-31 and Rev 19:20 - 20:10). 27:1 a Called “Isaiah’s Little Apocalypse,” chapters 24-27 look beyond the immediate judgment of the surrounding nations to the future time of universal judgment (vs 1), which is to be followed by the universal blessing of the coming Millennial Kingdom (vs. 2-6,12-13). Here in verse 1 Isaiah describes for us the threefold result of the Second Coming of CHRIST . The wrath of His return will hurt ( sore – Rev 6:5 – 16:1-10 – 18:24, Jere 30:5-6 and Dan 12:1); it will be overwhelming ( great – Jere 30:7 and Dan 12:1); it will be swift and complete ( strong – Rev 19:1-2,11-21, Jere 30:8 and Dan 12:1,11-12). 27:1 b Leviathan was a mythical creature that depicted the enemy of God. It was a monster (crooked serpent; dragon; Satan) whom Jehovah would defeat (Rev 20:1-2,10).
