In the last segment I ask the congregation to sing their own words to the Lord. By this point in the drill, the wind of the Holy Spirit has so filled the sails of our hearts that the one-minute segments are stretched out considerably! ‘I love you Lord,’ ‘please help me,’ ‘you are my Savior,’ ‘I trust in you, ‘all become beautiful poems before the throne of God. Heaven seems to touch earth when the songs are offered in sincerity before the Lord; He does inhabit the praises of His people! There must be moments dedicated to the prophetic song if it is going to happen. If the church services are highly structured by time schedules then it is suggested that the worship leader might put a few minutes into the worship list for freely expressed praise. One way to increase the flow of the Spiritual Song in the church is to designate special services to worship, prayer and gifts of the Holy Spirit. The focus of these times could be rearranged to accommodate more freedom of expression for the prophetic song.
