The Spiritual Song - Exploring Prophetic Worship by Mike Herron
encouraged to remember or write down the names and titles for the Lord. ‘ Jesus, Lamb of God, Yahweh, Elohim, Jehovah Jireh, Messiah, Savior, Lord, Prince of Peace, Counselor, Mighty God ’… you get the idea. Then for one minute or more lavish your praise and worship on the name/s of the Lord with song. The third segment is centered on giving the Lord thanks as the scripture teaches us ‘ Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! ’ Ps 136:1. I ask them to give thanks for everyone and in every circumstance because God has promised to make all things work together for good to those who love Him. This is like priming the prophetic well; a thankful heart becomes free and ready to overflow with the goodness and mercy of God. The fourth segment is to sing ‘in the Spirit’ for 1 minute. ‘I will sing in the Spirit, and I will also sing in words I understand. ’ 1 Cor 14:15 we are told that singing in the gifted language is praising and giving thanks in a perfect, Holy Spirit inspired way. Those who have not received this wonderful gift can believe to receive in these moments and it never fails that many receive their gift of tongues as we do this. Singing in the Spirit is one of the best ways to fulfill the injunction to be filled with the Spirit. As we do this, the Holy Spirit takes control of the rudder of our tongue and steers the ship of our life in accordance with the perfect will of God.
