The Spirit of Glory

The president of my Bible College wrote in one of his many

books about the “Spirit of Glory , ” which is one of the biblical names for the Holy Spirit. 24 One of the primary ways the Holy

Spirit releases God’s glory (his manifest presence) through the

church is in times of suffering.

If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you; for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. (1 Peter 4:14).

Paul in dealing with his sufferings for the cause of Christ makes

this striking statement:

…therefore more gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities (sufferings for Christ), that the power of Christ may rest upon me (2 Cor. 12:9).

It is important that we understand that God has no desire to

needlessly have us suffer. If we can avoid unnecessary pain,

we should. But what I am trying to point out is that God does

not waste the pain we suffer for His sake.
