The Shaking of Nations - A Harvest Tsunami Is On Its Way....
Ezekiel lays out a very simple motivation for this league of
predatory nations: They will want the wealth of restored Israel.
The master planners of the war will see Israel as a jewel ready
to be seized (Ezek. 38:10,12,13). The plan will be to assemble
the might of these nations into a combined army that wil
overwhelm Israel and loot it (Ezek. 38:14-16).
The leadership of this alliance is identified as Gog, who is the
prince of Magog. It is not easy to know who this leader is, and
who northern people are, but we can deduce a general
knowledge of their location. Though the original wording of this
text is not clear, the generally accepted translation is that Gog
is a prince ruling over a northern territory — referred to as
Meshek and Tubal — toward the end of this age.
We do find a reference in Gen.10:2 referring to Magog as a
descendant of Japheth — one of the sons of Noah. According
to early Jewish traditions, Magog was the great Scythian
people, a group evidently far to the north of Israel. The usage
of “far north” seems to be a general depiction of people groups
outside the circle of known nations at the time of Ezekiel.
Gog is not Persia, which was a known nation in the day of
Ezekiel. That would make Magog a people further north than
modern day Iran — possibly pointing to lower Russia and some
of the Euro-Asian states of today.
