the harvest wave. The swell is already building because of work

done by God and by his faithful people. We need only to be

alert, and ready.

What Started Small Will End Big

Jesus describes the Kingdom of God that He had brought as

beginning as a “mustard seed” or a “pinch of yeast put into a

batch of flour” (Matt. 13:31 -33). Both yeast and and mustard

seeds exemplify tiny things that grow exponentially.

Indeed, Jesus’ ministry began in a small district of a small

country, with a tiny handful of disciples. Yet Jesus promised

those disciples that His message would reach all nations in a

very big world (Matt. 24:14). The prophets Habakkuk and Isaiah

both declared that the knowledge of the Lord would eventually

cover the earth like the waters cover the seas (Hab. 2:14; Isa.

11:9).

In the parable of the four types of soil, representing the four

conditions of people's hearts when they hear the gospel, Jesus

says that the good ground will produce “…a crop — some

t hirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown” (M ark
