The Life of Christ
• Many have been denied their personal healing because they chose to focus upon the diagnosis and prognosis rather than the Holy Ghost!
It was at the end of the walk of faith that Peter lost his concentration since Peter was now within Jesus’ reach.
• By the end of the walk, with the danger past, Peter relaxed his faith and began to carelessly slip.
• The moment we are most vulnerable is when we assume victory is finally ours.
• We remember Israel’s tragic overconfidence immediately after taking Jericho, just before going into Ai.
Mt. 14:31-32 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind stopped.
As said earlier, what brings the storms of life to an end is a momentous step of faith out of the boat of our security.
Mt. 14:33 And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are certainly God’s Son!”
We saw this the first time Jesus stilled the water; the disciples said to each other: “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!” (Mk. 4:41).
• They knew He was God’s son, but through this experience, their understanding of what that meant took on a far greater meaning.
Mk. 6:51-52 And He got into the boat with them, and the wind stopped; and they were greatly astonished, 52 for they had not gained any insight from the incident of the loaves, but their heart was hardened.
Their worship mentioned in Mt. 14:33 seemed to be connected to their astonishment.
• However, Mk. 6:52 adds that they hadn’t gained any insight from the incident with the loaves.
• We remember how in the midst of the ten miraculous plagues, Pharaoh’s heart remained hardened.
• This implies that after seeing Jesus multiply the bread, they should have not been so surprised to see Jesus now walk on water!
• Even though they were in the thick of the miraculous, their hearts had still remained hardened.
• Unfortunately, just being around the miraculous does not guarantee that hearts will be softened!
Jn. 6:21 They were willing therefore to receive Him into the boat; and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.
As soon as they boarded the boat, they were immediately at their destination.
• This is one of four places in Scripture where “physical translation” occurs.
