The Life of Christ
• We also see it during the temptation as Jesus and Satan arrive instantly at the top of a mountain high enough to see all the kingdoms of the world, as well as finding themselves upon the highest pinnacle of the temple, miles from the Judean wilderness (Mt. 4:5,8)
• We then remember Philip the Evangelist’s famous translation to Azotus, twelve miles away from where, just moments earlier, he baptized the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:39).
• The fifth scheduled translation is yet to come. Rev. 12:6 describes the "woman" (the bride of Christ) miraculously entering the wilderness to be kept from the dragon for 1260 days. (See The Revelation, by David Sell, page 161.)
SECTION 108
Mk. 6:53-55 And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret, and moored to the shore. 54 And when they had come out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, 55 and ran about that whole country and began to carry about on their pallets those who were sick, to 1 the place they heard He was.
By now during Jesus’ ministry thousands had been healed, creating a ground swell of faith throughout every region of Galilee, except Nazareth.
• Wherever Jesus was spotted, people took every measure possible to be near Him, anticipating His healing powers.
Mk. 6:56 And wherever He entered villages, or cities, or countryside, they were laying the sick in the marketplaces, and entreating Him that they might just touch the fringe of His cloak; and as many as touched it were being cured.
Ever since the woman touched the hem of His garment, her testimony became published everywhere.
• The same favor extended her, also extended to each, who with similar faith, reached out and touched that famous tunic.
• This approach was also popularized because it put the matter into the hands of the people. Rather than wait for Jesus to touch them, all they had to do to get healed was touch Jesus!
SECTION 109
Jn. 6:22 The next day the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other small boat there, except one, and that Jesus had not entered with His disciples into the boat, but that His disciples had gone away alone.
The crowd who gathered the day before when Jesus fed the multitudes is again looking for Jesus.
• They saw His disciples leave in the boat, and assumed He was still on their side of the lake.
Jn. 6:23 There came other small boats from Tiberias near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks.
By now, word was out regarding the feeding of the loaves and fishes; people from distant cities made their way there, thinking it would happen again.
