Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World

This was no game. This mission’s trip was life and

death.

We notified the guards to open the gate of the compound and let us go out into the streets. They seemed nervous and hesitant, carrying their rifles and shotguns with them as they stood alongside us, protecting us. Alongside the compound, TBN was building a local hospital to be a blessing of healing and provide medical care to the local families in Port-au-Prince. Bro Bill and I noticed there were several feet of scaffolding erected alongside the building for the workers to work atop. We climbed up the scaffolding and took down some two by six-inch boards used for the workers to walk on. We found a hammer and some nails and quickly built an eight-foot cross we could carry with us out into the streets of this dangerous city. Over the years taking Jesus to many countries, we discovered people may not understand your foreign language or know how to say your name, but everybody understands the meaning of an eight-foot cross that is being carried as Jesus carried His cross to Calvary. With the armed guards beside us, we marched outside the gates of the compound and hit the dirt roads for Jesus. I played guitar and our team sang along, songs about Jesus Christ and His delivering power. Brother Bill carried the cross and Scott Crawford and Jerry Davis had a powerful bullhorn-type PA speaker and preached the Gospel in the city.
