Barbara saw her on the steps and talked with her. She told Barbara she had found her way to the steps of the church because she saw a “glow in the sky like something was on fire.” Concerned, Barbara asked her, “Do you need anything?” She replied, “I need to be saved!” Barbara prayed for her and led her inside to the altar. God was moving mightily, sovereignly touching lives and saving souls. On the last day of the S.O.S. outreach, we rented a large forty-foot flatbed truck trailer and had it set up smack dab in the middle of Marion Square Park. Sarge had put together a great group of local musicians to help us end the outreach with an outdoor concert. The stage was crowded with drums, piano, guitars, speakers, monitors, microphones… and rising up from the back of the stage was an eight-foot cross that had been erected to help project our gospel message of Jesus Christ. Our anointed band played and sang a wide variety of praise and worship songs, evangelistic songs and even a few songs I had written that spoke of the salvation and grace offered to each one of us as a free gift from God. A large crowd had been drawn together in the park to enjoy the concert. And wouldn’t you know it, right in front of the elevated flatbed truck stage were The City Kids. But this time they were not laughing and mocking Jesus, they were soaking in the Gospel message that was flowing forth.
As the concert was coming to an end, I took my guitar off, put it on its stand and picked up my Bible,
