Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World

I can pretty much assuredly say that none of The City Kids had ever been to church, at least not a church like Maranatha. I’m also pretty sure most of the church members had never had much, if any, interaction with a group of teenagers like these.

But God had definitely orchestrated this night of

fellowship. He’s really good about stuff like that.

The City Kids ate great homemade food until they were about to pop. The congregation loved on the kids unconditionally with the Love of the Lord. Sarge and I once again strapped on our guitars, got up on the makeshift stage and sang and lifted up the Lord. It was such a great night for the church… and for the kids. As the bar-b-q wrapped up and The City Kids piled back in the church van and were taken back downtown, there was one thing I could say for sure. It was a powerful night none of us would ever forget. God was at work, and He had more surprises ahead. Over the next couple of days during the S.O.S. Salem outreach, everywhere we went doing outreach, it seemed The City Kids showed up. Their leader, Phil, was there. A few other kids were there. And Goldilocks was always in the midst of the group. It was like the Lord had made us a Holy Ghost magnet, drawing these kids to us everywhere we went. God was literally drawing people to Maranatha so they could be in His presence. One evening we had our revival service inside the church. It was very hot, and the church doors were wide open. A young girl sat outside on the steps listening to the music.
