This was the moment to preach His Gospel message, to challenge the lost souls in the audience to make a personal decision to either walk away from Jesus… or to come to Him with open arms and accept Christ as personal Lord and Savior. As I made myself available to the Lord to preach His appeal for Salvation, the Holy Ghost anointed my words. A hush fell over the park crowd as I asked who would want to be saved and decide to make Jesus Lord of their lives and follow Him as long as they live. I asked for hands to be raised if people wanted to be saved. All throughout the crowd, hands were raised toward Heaven, signifying “Pray with me to know Jesus and make Him Lord of my life.” My heart leapt as I surveyed the crowd with many hands lifted up for Salvation. As I was about to lead the crowd in a prayer of Salvation, I noticed something I will never forget. Wouldn’t you know it, miracle of miracles, The City Kids had their hands raised to receive Jesus as Lord. When Sarge and I came down from the stage, I went straight for The City Kids. I asked them about their prayers. I concluded they were sincere. But I wanted to be sure. I told them, “If you meant your prayer to make Jesus Lord of your life, we are going down to the Willamette River and you all are getting baptized.”
