message about Jesus. Emblazoned across the front of the banner was a message written in English; “Jesus - Beautiful Savior.” Also, written in Japanese on the banner was “Jesus Loves You. For whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13.” This amazing banner was made for us by our great, longtime friend, Tim Armstrong. Tim lives in Santa Rosa, California, and is the owner of TNT Signs and Graphics. Previously, Tim had made us banners to use in Haiti, South Africa, as well as other parts of the world. The banner was beautiful and was a great witnessing tool we would be taking with us to Shinjuku and Kabukicho. We discovered Kabukicho is referred to as “a pleasure place which never sleeps,” full of luminous sign boards and deafening music. Also, this area is known for its bars, prostitution and “love hotels.” We were excited to go into this devil’s playground and preach the love of Jesus and His saving grace. After a lengthy walk from the hotel to Shinjuku, we prayed and decided to stand on a corner of the area that was the busiest, loudest corner we could find. I thought about how, many years ago, Dot and I got down on our knees in our living room and committed to Jesus that we would “go anywhere and do anything He called us to do.” At the end of the prayer, I told Him, “Lord, I want You to take me to the worst places.” This late night, this corner in the heart of Kabukicho Shinjuku looked and sounded about as bad as it could get. I got my guitar and began to sing as we took over that corner of the city. I was singing at the top of my lungs to overcome the noise of this raucous city.
