We had come halfway around the world to serve Jesus and lift up His Name. A few reprimands from the police were not going to be enough to stop us. Opposition to the preaching and singing of the Gospel should never stop us from being obedient to the call of God on our lives. We knew we were about to go into an area of disaster near Sendai like we had never seen before. It was awesome to have some time singing and talking to people about Jesus on the train throughout Tokyo. And that stranger who helped us, we never saw him again. It was almost as if he had disappeared. Possibly we had been entertaining an angel unaware. Late in the afternoon, we made our way back to the hotel where we were staying. Our plan was to get up early the next morning and head to the epicenter of the earthquake damage in Sendai. We definitely wanted to hit the streets for Jesus that night before we started our trek in the morning. We asked some locals, “Can you tell us where the worst place in Tokyo is? Can you tell us where the worst place in town is?” Everyone we asked immediately told us unequivocally, “Shinjuku.” We asked a few people about this placed called “Shinjuku,” and discovered it is a place in the west side of the city that also has an area called Kabukicho. This was the “red -light district ” of Tokyo.

So, late that night we packed up my guitar, some Gospel tracts, and a large banner that displayed a
