Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World
I heard myself saying to Martha when she was telling Bobby and me about needing more room to hold the congregation, “We will bring a team and double the size of the church building!” Bobby looked at me as if I had lost my mind. Later, he asked me, “Dot, how in the world are we going to build that church? We don’t know much about construction or if it can even be done!” I just looked at him and smiled because I knew the One that could make it happen. We began sharing with people about the need. When was the last time any of us had to stand outside of a church because there were no seats available for us to sit in? God assembled a team of volunteers; we raised several thousand dollars, and we headed back to Tijuana for a weekend of building the new church! In one weekend our awesome volunteer team was headed up by Brian Bennett and Andy Simms of Santa Rosa, California. Frank and Angie Blondina came from Santa Rosa as well. Frank builds beautiful staircases in upscale custom homes. We had kids there with us volunteering, including our oldest grandson, Dakota who was only about eight years old at the time. It was so exciting to see this vision of doubling the size of the church come to pass. Husbands, wives, and children were all working together to build the church! Pastors Raymond and Brenda England from Trinity Lighthouse in Dennison, Texas, sent their church member, Tinker Billy Corbin, to Los Angeles so that he could join us in building the church. Tinker showed up with so much wisdom and skill and two suitcases packed full of tools that he generously left for the church to use after he left.
