As I walked up to the jail bars, I took my guitar and began to sing and play, lifting up the Lord to them. To see them smiling and clapping their hands along with me said it all. They were happy someone had remembered them and took time to tell them about the love and forgiveness of Jesus. Brother Bill has a special anointing to minister in jails and prisons. With his broad physique, black clothing adorned with Harley-Davidson emblems, his tattoos and straight talk, he stepped forward and fist bumped the prisoners through the bars. With the help of Pastor Gerson translating, Brother Bill preached a short salvation message, reminding the men because of Jesus, they could be free even if they were in this scorching hot jail. He told them, “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.” When he asked who wanted to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior and experience real freedom, it was unanimous, with each man raising his hand high in the air, almost as if they wanted to be sure the Lord saw their plea. Hallelujah. Then, we gathered up the guards and jailers in a circle, spoke to them about salvation in the Lord, bowed our heads and led all of them in a prayer to receive Him! The Holy Spirit had swept through the jail and had also touched the jailers. Our God is an awesome God. Our amazing Typhoon Haiyan disaster relief team made our way back to Manila and finally back to the USA. Our close bond with the Deita family and King Jesus Christian Fellowship continues to this day.
