Devastation was everywhere. Dozens of crashed cars, strewn along the perimeter of the airport, had been tossed to and fro like toy cars. Hundreds of palm trees that I am sure were so lush and beautiful before the typhoon, now stood a bit bowed over, stripped of the bark by the ferocious winds, torrential rain, and floodwaters from Typhoon Haiyan. As we gathered our disaster relief supplies and prepared to go into Tacloban, the epicenter of Typhoon Haiyan, God gave us a little glimpse that he was at work on our behalf. Brian Bennet told me when we were on the flight from Cebu City, he struck up a conversation with a foreign businessman who was seated beside him. He was curious why our team from America was in the Philippines and wondered where we were going. Brian told him a little about what we were about to do in Tacloban. As they departed, the man reached in his pocket and pulled out 5 U.S. one-hundred-dollar bills and told Brian, “Here. I hope this helps a little bit.” I like to call these moments a little kiss from Heaven . The Lord was making sure He reminded me He was in control and not to worry about the $750. over weight limit charges I had to pay earlier. He wanted us to know He had a plan. He had a good plan. Our entire ministry team got in a van and began making our way into Tacloban City. We stopped and bought some food and supplies we knew we would need over the next few days. It was a miracle we found these supplies we could purchase.
