Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World

My mind was racing. Call the police? What police? Had I actually seen this? Was my imagination taking me places? It was reality. It was shocking and I felt very out of my element. Many locals witnessed the same thing that I had witnessed and, somehow, I got the feeling this was not unusual. They forced the young man through a gate and into a home or a garage. I was praying, praying, praying. All the while the outreach was going forward. One of our good friends, Marty Dolfuss, wanted to go talk to this group and help the young man out of his troubles. We told him not to. We found out that we were witnessing vigilante justice. We were no longer in the USA. The story we heard was the injured young man had committed crimes against a disabled member of the community and this group was going to teach him a lesson. I still shudder when I think about it. About an hour or so later I had the privilege of praying for two of the young men who had exacted justice upon the injured man. They had a hard time looking me in the eyes, but I engaged them in conversation. At least one of them was from a Christian home and he allowed me to pray over him. We have never had an experience like that again in South Africa. I need to tell you about “Biggie”. I have no idea what his real name is. Biggie was just a little boy and was small in stature. Perhaps that is where he got his nickname. One day the team met Biggie as he was begging for food at a McDonalds not far from Lehae. Biggie had a huge story to tell the team. According to Biggie he was looking for his parents and had no idea where to find
