Skid Row in Los Angeles, California all the way from a small town in Texas. What a small world we live in.

As we were preparing for another Super Saturday event on Skid Row, the weather had turned cold for Southern California. It was especially cold to those who had no bed to lay their head and even sleep on the sidewalk. I asked people to donate new or gently used coats. I said we only needed adult coats that day. Our friend, Heidi Jorgensen, from Pastors Kelly and Mary Slater’s church (The Lighthouse in Santa Rosa, California) went shopping because she wanted to get a new coat for Skid Row. She said she kept being drawn to a child’s blue coat. She just really felt deep inside that she was to get that coat for Skid Row. I must admit that I was a little surprised that she gave a child’s coat but that was ok. I thought if we didn’t find a child on Skid Row that the coat would fit then we would find someone to donate the coat to. It was a nice pretty, blue warm coat. Bobby kept the coat in the car because, quite frankly, we didn’t think we would find a child on Skid Row to give the coat to that day. We knew that some of the streetwise folks on Skid Row would come up with a story that they had a child down the street and really wanted that coat for their child. Actually, they would have taken the coat to try to sell it so they would have some money for whatever was on their mind at the time. God had another plan. Heidi had been much more sensitive to the Holy Spirit than we had been! Bobby and I learned a powerful lesson that day.
