Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World

What we realized is that but by the grace of God, we could have been one of those residents of Skid Row. There were some families living on Skid Row as well. Seeing the children there was very heartbreaking. We learned to have a few things on hand for the littles of Skid Row when we would minister there. Some of our friends over the years seem to have been called to the beautiful people of this world…called to pastor churches, called to people who don’t smell like they haven’t washed their clothes in a month..ha! We see the homeless and down and out people as beautiful people. Do you want to know something? Bobby and I would not trade our calling for all the riches of the world! Our calling has always been to find the one that is lost! We are so thankful! We began taking food to the streets of Skid Row monthly. We named this outreach Skid Row Super Saturday. It was exciting, hard work and full of blessings for us and the volunteers we had join us. Life is fragile on Skid Row. We wanted more than anything to give each one of them the opportunity to receive Jesus and if they didn’t receive Him that day to at least keep them alive another day by giving them food and drink. One more day equals one more chance to live in Eternity with God. We learned many years ago that the best time to reach out to the homeless is toward the end of the month. By the end of the month, they have spent all their money, and they are hungry. We also know that when people have a full belly, they will listen more to what you are saying.
