Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World

The story rocked my soul and made me forget all about the arrest and interrogations we were about to face. As we finished up prayer and communion, everything seemed pretty quiet outside. We called it a night and went to bed, not knowing exactly what was going to happen when morning came. The next morning, we all got up as usual to the backdrop of the Muslim call to prayer blaring through loudspeakers outside. We had our breakfast and looked around the hotel to see if we were being followed. We could still see detectives outside and it was obvious someone was keeping a close eye on us. They had long, greasy hair and wore leather jackets like the mafia gangs do. It did appear the police had a way of listening in to our conversations and phone calls, so I spoke to her in a way that would not give them information of our plans for the day. When Dot answered it was so great to hear her voice. She is always so positive and encouraging when I am in another country dealing with the challenges we face doing disaster relief. I spoke to her in a casual and light-hearted way. Then she asked me, “What are y’all going to do today?” So as not to give information to the police, I told her, “Oh, we are thinking about going to the mall and do some shopping.” As it was approaching lunchtime, I decided to give Dot a quick call at home in California and check in.
