Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World
What a miracle that God had made a way for us.
He made a way where there was no way.
As we were finishing supper, Pastor Steve leaned over to me and quietly whispered, “I just got a call on my phone from the military police.” I was a little shocked and asked why the military police would be calling him. He said, “They said they want us to come in and talk to them about the Bibles we had handed out to people in Padang.” I abruptly stopped him and said, “I’m not going in there!” Soon I would discover if you don’t go in and talk to the military police in Indonesia when they call you, they come and get you. When we got back to the hotel, we noticed several cars surrounding the hotel that had never been there before. Rudy said they were surveillance vehicles the police had sent out to keep an eye on us . We all gathered in the small dining area of the hotel and sought the Lord about what He would have us do. Pastor Steve felt strongly he was to stay and be a representative of our team to the military police, especially considering he lived in Indonesia, and he pastored a church in Jakarta. We were concerned about Pastor Donny because he and his wife, Preicyllia, were expecting a baby soon. We did not want Pastor Donny to be arrested in Padang and not be able to be with his family. We told him that we would take him to the airport right then and get him a flight back to Jakarta and away from the military police in Padang.
