As I approached her and I could tell she saw me, I revealed a part of the cover of the bible I wanted to give her. I reminded myself giving away Bibles still had to be clandestine as we were in a communist country. Not only that, but I was also standing in Red Square where for years, Russia had showcased it’s military power for the world to see. Even though St. Basil’s Cathedral was nearby, I could feel a spiritual darkness and heaviness hovering over the area. I walked up closer to the girl the Lord had led me to and showed her the Bible I had, indicating I wanted to give it to her. But I got a response from her I had not experienced before. When she saw the Bible, she forcefully waved her arms at me, indicating she wanted no part of receiving the Bible. A little bit surprised but determined to press on, I walked closer to her and showed her the Bible again. And again, she waved me off and showed a stern disinterest in receiving this Bible. I had to know why she was so adamantly refusing this free gift. I got close enough to her so she could hear me, and I said, “I have come from America to give you this Bible.” Once again, she shunned my attempts. My heart was breaking for her. I thought maybe she was a hardcore Communist whose heart was hardened, and she had absolutely no interest in having a Bible. I could not let it go.
With one last effort, I told her, “This is a Bible I have brought to you from America !” Then with one last
