Street Stories - A Ringside Seat To Over 4 Decades Of Taking Jesus To The Streets Of The World

interest throughout Russia. All along we took every opportunity to give away Bibles to people who never thought they would even see a Bible, let alone own one. I remember going into Kiev and I noticed a very long line of people in front of what I would describe as a soft-drink machine. I was thinking it sure was taking a long time for people to get their drinks dispensed and move out of the line. As I got closer, I realized what was happening that was taking so long. I walked up to the front of the line and saw there was one plastic glass attached to the drink machine with a small chain, and everybody was drinking out of the same cup. Each person would take the glass on the chain, fill it up with some type of colored drink, and then stand there and drink it while the rest of the people in the line patiently waited their turn to drink. It seemed everywhere I turned in Russia, in the subways and throughout the museums, gold and extraordinary riches were on display everywhere for the world to see. But the people of the nation lived in poverty and submission to whatever living conditions they found themselves in. Long lines of people would form in front of stores and food markets so the people could purchase what was needed for their families. Once inside the markets, food was in very short supply. They may have one or two small chickens available for purchase. By the time most of the families made their way through the long lines, very little food and resources were left for them. The people had been conditioned to live in lack as peasants in a country rich in resources.
