for the gift. Then the husband did something I had not expected.
He reached inside one of their travel bags, pulled out a beautiful crystal bowl and handed it to me as a gift from them. Although I couldn’t speak Russian, I gestured to them that was not necessary. But they insisted on giving me a gift since I had given them such a great gift. I smiled and accepted the glass bowl as a cherished gift for my family. The Russian people were so beautiful and generous, it was hard to give them something without them wanting to return the favor. They were such giving people. Later that night, the tour group went to a nearby restaurant for dinner. The restaurant was attached to a bar and the music from the bar was blaring into the restaurant. Some of us went into the bar area and began to talk to the musicians that were playing in the band. They were quite impressed that our group was there from America and became even more friendly when they discovered some of us were musicians. We couldn’t understand much of what was being said, but through an interpreter, we asked if we could sit in with the band and sing some songs we brought from America. They were quite obliging, so I took the guitar from one of them and another young man in our group was a keyboard player in his church’s worship group. So, he got on the keyboard. The bass player and the drummer were Russians who played with the band at the bar.
