ROMANS Study Guide
been given by Christ…it is like knowing we have $50 in our
pocket which then allows us to “act” like we have the much
money in our pocket.
2) Revelation causes us to “see” what we have in Christ and
reckoning causes us to “step out” on what we have in Christ .
We now let what we know we have determined how we will
act in our daily life.
3) Reckoning does not replace Revelation… you must “see” before
you can act. If you are working from someone else’s
revelation, it is no good. It must be real to you to raise your
faith.
b. Reckoning that I am “dead to sin” means that I step out in bold
resistance to what is tempting me or attacking me. And on the
positive side “I have been resurrected in Christ to walk in a new
life”. I can step out into the impossible, into full obedience of the
beatitudes (Matt.5) and reflect the fruits of the Spirit (Gal.5:22).
3. Presenting (yielding) : Rom.6:13, 16-17
a. Presenting means to choose (continually) who I yield my body and mind
to as servant to serve.
1) Every day I must fight this battle…in moments of temptat ion
and testing… who will I present myself to?… because who I
present myself to has the power over me whether for evil or for
righteousness.
2) This presenting can be a long-term process of fighting a strong
temptation or attack on my faith. It may require much
endurance through discouragement, crushing disappointments
or temptations associated with success, etc. There has to be a
building of consistent trust and faith in what God is revealing to
us. Some believers grow weary and “throw the towel in” and
give up the fight.
