When we are convinced of the outcome of something… we are more likely to patiently wait for it. (vss.24-25)

2) We do not yet see what God has fully promised but true hope embraces his promise - growing us in endurance till what we hope for is reality.

Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Rom 8:27 And He searching the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Rom 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, for Him to be the First-born among many brothers. Rom 8:30 But whom He predestinated, these He also called; and whom He called, those He also justified. And whom He justified, these He also glorified.

7. How to deal with our weakness and suffering in this present age:

a. Likewise, the Holy Spirit helps our “weaknesses” (infirmities) …

by comforting us (Jn.14:16) and gives us strength to carry what

would normally overwhelm us…

1) Here we see the importance God places on prayer! Jesus

lives to intercede for us (Rom.8:34; Heb.7:27) and the Holy

Spirit intercedes for us (vs.26-27).

2) We are instructed to pray in the Spirit (under the leading and

directing of the Spirit in our prayer life…Eph. 6:18.

1Cor.14:2)… such praying will bring about God’s w ill and

gain our request. (1Jn.5:14-15)

b. Weakness refers to those areas were we cannot understand or bear up

under the pressures of life and ministry and groanings refer to where

we have been mistreated or abused like creation itself. The Holy

Spirit brings God’s provision and help as the Spirit helps us pray the
