ROMANS Study Guide

1) We can grow in the ability to endure trouble with joy 2) Like Jesus in Hebrew 12:2… ”for the joy set before us (from seeing what God is doing in our struggle) we can endure the cross, scorn the shame and “sit down” in resurrection victory in this life.”

Rom 5:6 For we yet being without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Rom 5:7 For one will with difficulty die for a righteous one, yet perhaps one would even dare to die for a good one. Rom 5:8 But God commends His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.

5. God’s amazing unconditional love for us: vs.6-10

a. At our very worst – God died for us. Yet we tend to try and

make ourselves better so He will love us more. God died for us

when we were not even trying to please him. This is the highest

expression of love. God cannot love us anymore nor any less than

He already does.

b. God accepts us the way we come but is committed to making us

Into who we are supposed to be.

Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. Rom 5:10 For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more , being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Rom 5:11 And not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the reconciliation.

6. Our amazing salvation: vss.9-10

a. If we were loved while enemies how much more will we be

loved now that we stand justified before God through Jesus shed

blood in our behalf. Now we can stand confident in being saved ( sozo :

rescued, healed, delivered) from God’s wrath ( judgment) coming on

the disobedient world. (vs.9)

b. Reconciliation : the obstacles to our coming together with God

has been removed - we are no longer at odds with God but

have been restored in relationship to Him forever.

7. We also rejoice in God
