ROMANS Study Guide

Paul ends verse eleven with the joy in that not only are we confident of

our salvation from the wrath of God but we can rejoice in the Lord now

and enjoy him by His Holy Spirit. We can enjoy his presence and work-

ing in our life because of being reconciled with him. We now have his

Spirit to strengthen us now and the great hope of full redemption in a

glorious future.

Conclusion: Here Paul has highlighted the amazing truth of justification with its implications for the rest of our Christian life. We are ending the first section of Paul’s thinking in Romans which essentially focuses on the work of the shed blood of Jesus… the removal of guilt and condemnation for the sins we have committed against God. This work of salvation of Jesus on the cross is appropriated by faith and faith alone. We could do nothing to earn such a great salvation… this applies to both the Jew and Gentile alike. And now we possess the greatest treasure - a personal relationship with God through the Holy Spirit (God’s presence) in our life.
