ROMANS Study Guide
and through them.
b. He is confident (persuaded) that these Roman Christians are full…
1) Of goodness (virtue…Christ likeness)
2) Knowledge (of God…knowing God)
3) Able to admonish one another (look after each other)
Rom 15:15 But, brothers, I wrote to you boldly, as reminding you in part, because of the grace that is given to me by God, Rom 15:16 that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the nations, ministering the gospel of God, so that the offering up of the nations might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Rom 15:17 Therefore I have boasting in Christ Jesus as to the things pertaining to God. Rom 15:18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ did not work out by me for the obedience of the nations in word and deed, Rom 15:19 in power of miracles and wonders, in power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem, and all around to Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. Rom 15:20 Yea, so I have been eager to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man's foundation. Rom 15:21 but as it is written, "To whom nothing was said about Him, they shall see. And they who have not heard shall understand."
5. Paul returns to his calling and ministry to the Gentiles: (vss.15-21)
a. Paul’s unique calling to the Gentile Nations (Acts 9:15 -16)
1) But even so… he wanted to boldly give them from his own ministry…
the grace he was given for the Gentile Churches (Rom.1:11). Paul
boldly declares that he was called to “win nations” to faith in Jesus
Christ. They could join him in this amazing calling of receiving the
vision and ability to reach whole people groups in fulfilling the great
commission.
2) Paul uses the word “ leitourgos” (we get our word liturgical
from this word - it means to minister as a priest) referring to
his call as an Apostle to the Gentiles. Paul was “designed” by
the Holy Spirit to be a unique preacher and priest for God to
the Gentiles. Paul uses the priestly concept of his work among
the Gentiles as one offering the Gentile peoples as a “sacrifice”
