I Appeal To Caesar!

The man addressing you is My servant, a Christian, a child of the true God, and would be a wonderful servant to you, if you would now resist the hardening of your sinful heart. “My servants, Paul and the many other Christians, will not confess you as Lord, as God, or any other name or title that would reflect the belief that you are divine; you are a weak, degenerated man of sin and in rebellion against the one and only true God. These words of my prophet Jeremiah, spoken on God’s behalf to the Jews of ancient times, apply to you as well:

‘ The LORD is the true God;

He is the living God and the everlasting King.

At His wrath the earth will tremble, and the nations

will not be able to abide His indignation.

…The [so called] gods, like yourself, that have not made the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens’ (Jeremiah 10:10).

Returning to common Greek, the language of the people, Paul speaks more as a friend. “O Nero, redirect your thoughts and energies away from the passing fancies of this earthly life. Call upon Jesus the true Lord. He will save you and give you hope for the future. Let the murderous thoughts of your heart be changed. Jesus loves you and stretches His hands out to receive you. Call on His name in sincere prayer and allow Him to fill your heart! Make Jesus Lord of your life.”
