God's Prophetic People
Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.” After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the LORD, for his love endures forever.” As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated. Can you imagine that? Thousands upon thousands of enemies were killed by each other. Judah did not have to lift one sword to defeat the enemies. They used one of the most powerful weapons we as Christians have: praise. Judah did not send out their chariots and spear throwers. They did not bring out their horses and swordsmen. They brought out their singers (choir boys). PRAISE was the invincible, ultimate offensive weapon.
As Christians, one of our most lethal weapons we have in our arsenal is praise. Praise releases God’s presence, drives out our enemies, and secures the favorable response of our Lord and Savior.
C. To RECEIVE the response of God (Job 36:29; Psalm
24:7-10; Hebrews 3:15; Revelation 5:8)
You might be wondering how the Lord will respond when we praise Him. His response can take many forms. He may desire to speak to us, to bring healing, or to shower us with His love. He might embrace us like a father holding his children close. The ways He responds are endless and unique, each moment filled with His presence and care. But one thing is for sure: As we exalt the name of the Lord, as we praise Him, His presence will refresh us. As we worship the Lord, our songs are
