God's Prophetic People
like vapor which ascends to the throne of God. Like moisture from an ocean collecting in clouds, filling until they respond by sending forth rain, so the Lord responds in kind, sending refreshing rain from His presence (Acts 3:19-21).
V. SONG OF THE LORD/ PROPHETIC SONG A. The Song of the Lord/Prophetic Song Is Known as the Gateway into the Prophetic Realm (Ephesians 5:18-20; Colossians 3:16) To be filled with the Holy Spirit is the essential ingredient in moving into the prophetic realm. You might be asking yourself, “How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?” The answer to this question is found in Ephesians 5:18-20: “And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.” Here we find three expressions of Christian song. This gives us quite a full range of singing which the Holy Spirit prompts. The definitions to these are as follows: 1. Psalms Definition : Psalms are mentioned first, and rightly so because this term refers to God’s holy Word (scripture) which has been set to music. David and others wrote the psalms, and they sang these psalms unto the Lord declaring His greatness and majesty, giving glory and honor to Him. David Blomgren defines psalms as: “Song of praise from scripture or a song in the character, spirit, or manner of Old Testament psalms.” 16
