God's Prophetic People - A People of Passion, Purpose And Power
God's Prophetic People
Their internal conflict can sometimes spill over into outbursts of anger. When a believer swaps a genuine relationship with God for mere religious routines, their holy passion begins to fade. B. ISOLATION Throughout the book of Acts we can clearly see that there were great displays of God’s grace. People were getting saved by the thousands and forsaking all to become part of the great community of God. The people were full of passion, and they were faithful to meet together regularly. They were together in the corporate gatherings and meeting from house to house. You see, isolation — or separating yourself from a people of passion —can have a degenerating effect on you. When you separate yourself from the household of faith, you may fall prey to the cultural philosophies of our day which steal your holy passions. In Genesis chapter thirteen, we see this illustrated in a very clear way through Lot and Abraham. The Bible tells us that as soon as Lot separated from Abraham, a series of events happened to him and his family. Abraham represents the man of God and the father of our faith. Lot, on the other hand, represents those who stray from the covenant community and do things their own way and by themselves. The following is the progression of isolation in Lot’s life and family: 1) Lot separated from Abraham and lived in the valley 2) Lot and family moved to the outskirts of Sodom 3) Lot and family ended up living in the city 4) Lot and family were influenced by the culture of the city 5) Lot and some of his family escaped as though through fire
Separation from the community of believers not only hinders your spiritual life and fervency, but also can lead to spiritual stagnation and even death.
