God's Prophetic People - A People of Passion, Purpose And Power

God's Prophetic People

Jesus’ time. These spiritual leaders rejected, opposed, misunderstood Jesus and eventually handed Him over to be killed. The people who knew they were sinners and in need of salvation gladly received Him and His message. When the religious people heard him, they were enraged. The people desired to lift Him up, crown Him, and make Him their King; the religious leaders wanted to crucify Him. The religious people have an outward form, yet have no inner flame. They have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof.

Often religious people simply go to the church without encountering the One whom we were intended to meet. We often do things simply for the sake of doing them, rather than doing them unto the Lord. We often become consumed by activities instead of being consumed by the Lord. Isaiah 29:13 identifies this problem so clearly: “Therefore the LORD said: "Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men.” The prophet Isaiah is referring to religious people. A people who: • Have an outward form, yet lack an inward flame • Are externally pious, yet inwardly pompous • Perform religious acts without relationship with Jesus • Have form without fervency • Have programs without passion or purpose Religious people are often those who profess to be Christians but live hypocritically. They may claim to love Jesus, yet resist the work of the Holy Spirit — the very One Jesus sent. These individuals often talk the talk but fail to walk the walk, and as a result, they tend to be frustrated and unsettled in life.
