God's Prophetic People

3. A passion for pornography and illicit sex It feels like sexual content is everywhere we turn these days. It’s in almost every part of our lives. In advertising, whether it’s for perfume, cars, or anything else, sexual imagery is almost always part of the pitch. Magazine racks and newsstands are full of sexually charged material, and pornographic content is more accessible than ever. Strip clubs are popping up all over the country, and sadly, child abuse is at alarming levels, often by those entrusted with their care. In schools, kids are being taught that same-sex relationships are the societal norm, a message that contrasts with biblical teachings like those found in Romans 1:24-27, which speaks of being given over to unnatural passions. Meanwhile, sexually transmitted infections are on the rise, both in the U.S. and around the world. The pornographic business today generates billions of dollars a year and children now are being trafficked for sex. 4. A passion for sports Thousands of people flock to sports stadiums across the country, painting themselves in team colors and cheering with intense loyalty. But the passion for the game can quickly turn dark — riots erupt, and in some cases, lives are lost. In 1994, after Colombia’s World Cup loss 1 , a fan shot and killed a player blamed for the defeat. Similar tragedies have occurred in the U.K., where violent crowds at soccer matches have led to deaths. Sports stir up such fierce emotions that they can push fans from excitement to extreme acts of violence. 5. A passion for fitness Our society is caught up in a fitness frenzy. People flock to gyms with the same intensity as sharks after their prey. In today’s world, it feels like you're judged
