God's Prophetic People

A People of Passion, Purpose, and Power / © Brian Daehn This miraculous healing was given to emphasize God’s power on the earth to forgive sins and to heal. Christ’s ministry was characterized by numerous healings and by delivering many people from demonic forces. This declares to all, that our 181 Matthew 9:6-8: “‘But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins’— then He said to the paralytic, ‘Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.’ And he arose and departed to his house. Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.” ` Exodus 17:6: “‘Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.’ And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.” 2 Kings 2:19-21: “Then the men of the city said to Elisha, ‘Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren.’ And he said, ‘Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it.’ So they brought it to him. Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, ‘Thus says the LORD: “I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.”’” Another purpose for signs and wonders is for the Lord to show His love and compassion for His people. The people of Israel wandered through the desert, choosing unbelief instead of going to the Promised Land when they should have. They were a stiff -necked, rebellious people, yet God provided for them. He made manna come down from heaven. He made water come out of a rock. He healed the waters around Jericho, and He miraculously reproduced oil for a needy widow. All these miracles show the compassion and love our Lord and Savior has for us. C.
