God's Prophetic People - A People of Passion, Purpose And Power

God's Prophetic People

A Sign = A miraculous truth that points to a deeper truth and reveals God’s character and nature. A Wonder = Something strange to us which causes man to marvel at God’s power.

The supernatural should always point toward God.

A. To Establish that Yahweh Alone Is GOD (Exodus 15:11; 1 Kings 18:16-39; 1 Samuel 5)

Exodus 15:11: “Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?” There were many gods whom people worshiped in biblical times, and unfortunately this is still true today. Yet there has been and is only one true God, and His name is Yahweh/ Jehovah. He alone is God. Signs and wonders establish the fact that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the one true and living God and there is none like Him. When Elijah had a stand- off with the prophets of Baal, he prayed to Jehovah God: “Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that you are the Lord God…” (1 Kings 18:37). God answered the prophet’s prayer by sending fire which consumed the burnt sacrifice, the wood, the stones, the dust, and licked up the water as well. Our God (Yahweh/Jehovah) is the only true and living God, and signs and wonders are one area which establishes Him as Lord of all.

B. To Show Yahweh's LOVE and Compassion for His

People (Exodus 16:4, 17:6; 2 Kings 2:19-22; 4:1-17)

Exodus 16:4: “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not.’”
