God's Prophetic People

III. Prophetic PERSPECTIVE 1 Samuel 9:9, 16:7; 1 Kings 19:41-46; 2 Kings 6:8-17; Ephesians 1:15-23, 6:12; Hebrews 11:1-3 Seer (Heb) Ro'eh A visionary, a seer, one who sees

visions, a prophet. From the word ra'ah meaning “to see,” yet has a wider meaning, such as perceive, appear, discern, look, and stare. 8

Seer (Heb) Chozeh Denotes the subjective experience of seeing God's revealed message. Seems to refer to the visionary perception. 9

Prophetic perspective is the ability to see beyond the natural surroundings by using the four biblical lenses, perceiving the mind of the Lord for the present situation and His will for the future.

Prophets almost always reached back into the Torah (Pentateuch), bringing the Word of the Lord to their present situation (forthtelling), and at times forecasted into the future (foretelling) what would take place. A. Noah (Genesis 6; Hebrews 11:7) By faith, Noah had a prophetic perspective. He saw past the temporal, past the natural, and received insight as to what was going to happen in the days ahead. He built the Ark to be a refuge for his family and all the animals that would come. Can you imagine yourself building this ark year after year with no rain? I’m sure there were a lot of comments that people shared with Noah. Perhaps some were like, “Why in the world are you building this big ark? It’s not going to rain!” It is important for us to see like Noah saw--into the future. This will give us hope
