God's Prophetic People

in and takes a hold of our lives. Our response to this is very im- portant. We must take His hand, grabbing hold of Him and His purposes for our lives with all our might.

D. Wage a Good Warfare (Matthew 16:16-18; 2 Corinthians 10:3-6; 1 Timothy 1:18)

1 Timothy 1:18: “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare…”

2 Corinthians 10:3- 6: “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” We as Christians are constantly in a war zone. Yet we must realize that we all have authority over the enemy (Satan and his demons). We need to be aware of the tactics of our enemy. The following are some of Satan’s plans and purposes: • To oppose God (Acts 13:10, 26:17; 2 Cor. 6:15; Rev. 12:12-13) • To ruin believers (Luke 22:31-32; 1 Cor. 7:5; I Jn. 5:18; Rev. 12:17) • To hinder true faith (Matt. 13:38-41; Jn.8:44; Acts 5:3; 1 Tim. 5:15; Rev. 12:9) • To establish his own kingdom (Isa.14:13-14; Matt.12:25-27; Luke 4:5-7) As we understand what the enemy’s plans and purposes are, this should give us renewed courage and determination to destroy his plans. We do this by praising the Lord, praying and fasting, and proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.
