God's Prophetic People - A People of Passion, Purpose And Power

God's Prophetic People

• Christ’s followers were to show His love in relationships with one another. • Christ’s followers love would flow out of them as they remained in an intimate, vital relationship with Him. At the last supper, Jesus said to His disciples, “Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no man than this, that he lay his life down for his friend” (John 15:12 -13). • Christ’s followers are called to have the same relationship with the world that Jesus had — neither withdrawing from it nor being compromised by it, but rather being sent into it with purpose. Christ’s disciples are called to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. In fact, Jesus entrusted them with the keys of the kingdom. These are all metaphors of influence and penetration. Salt penetrates food, light dispels darkness, and keys unlock doors. God’s prophetic people are those who penetrate the world by reflecting Christ in character and purpose. Just a pinch of salt can transform a whole meal. A small flashlight can light up the darkest night. A single key can open a massive door. In the same way, you can change the atmosphere around you by becoming more Christlike.

“To become Christlike is the only thing in the whole world worth caring for, the thing before which every ambition of man is folly and all lower achievement vain.” - Henry Drummond, The Greatest Thing in the World 22

D. To Testify of Jesus Christ (Revelation 19:10) Revelation 19:10: “And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, ‘See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.’”
