God's Prophetic People

V. The Purposes OF GOD'S PROPHETIC PEOPLE In order to live as God’s prophetic people, we must understand what God desires and what our purpose is as His prophetic believers. This section outlines some key characteristics of the central purposes of God’s prophetic people. A. To Be Abandoned Worshipers of the Lord (2 Samuel 6:14-15; John 4:23-24; 2 Corinthians 3:18) The highest call of any Christian believer is to be an abandoned worshiper of the Lord. There is no higher calling. As born-again believers, think about what we have to look forward to in eternity! We can worship the Lord forever. We can express our love and devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ unreservedly. We can behold His glory and be changed into his likeness. Christian work (ministry) must come out of worship. Intimate relationship comes out of worship. B. T o Be Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ (Mark 10:29-31; Luke 14:25-33; Romans 12:1-2) There is quite a big difference between being a believer and being a disciple. There is quite a big difference in receiving the Lord as your savior or as your Lord and master. One is casual Christianity, the other is covenantal Christianity. Disciples of the Lord are continuously being challenged and changed into His image. If you are going to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, you must: • Take up your cross daily • Choose Christ over all other relationships • Offer your body as a living sacrifice unto the Lord

God’s prophetic people are those born -again Christians who have made Christ their Lord.

C. To Emulate Christ Jesus in Character and Purpose (Isaiah 61:1-4; Luke 4:18; Galatians 5:22-25) • Christ’s followers were to show His love and holiness in their personal lives.
