God's Prophetic People

We need a generation of no-compromise-Christians. We need a generation who will stand up with biblical convictions in a culture that needs to have Christians to cut across the grain — a people who live, speak, and demonstrate the truth of God. Why are so many people afraid of this? Why aren’t Christians rising up? I believe it is because we have lost the fear of God. We have lost our standard, our yardstick. We have gotten into a consumer mentality.

In his book $3.00 Worth of God , Wilbur Reese depicts

many Christians today:

I would like to buy three dollars’ worth of God please. Not enough to expose my soul, or disturb my sleep, but just enough of Him to equal a cup of warm milk or a snooze in the sunshine. I don’t want enough of God to love my enemy, or pick beats with a migrant. I want ecstasy, not transformation. I want the warmth of the womb, not new birth. I would like a pound of the eternal in a paper sack please. I would like to buy $3.00 worth of God. 21 Unfortunately today we see many Christians living like practicing atheists. This should not be the case. With the proper view of God — the proper fear of God — Christians around the globe will want all of God. They will want as much of God as they can possibly get. They will be hungry and desperate for God, unwilling to leave the meeting place until they have touched the hem of His garment. Today we have a multitude of sermons on the love of God. I believe we need to balance the weights by preaching sermons on the fear of God, on the transcendence of God, on repentance, and on the responsibility of the believer. God is raising up a generation of radical Christians who do fear God, who are accountable, and who are committed to fulfilling God’s purposes for their lives, despite obstacles which may get in the way. This group of radical believers are called God’s prophetic people .
