God's Prophetic People - A People of Passion, Purpose And Power

God's Prophetic People

As compromise continues, the person’s conscience is in jeopardy. The more you disobey the Lord, the more your conscience becomes desensitized and eventually seared. Do you remember back when you first sinned as a Christian? Do you remember how big a deal it actually was? I remember the first time I sinned after becoming a Christian. It was earth-shattering. I was so grieved in my heart that I had disappointed God. How about you? If a person who disobeys continues to do so, it doesn’t seem to matter as much to them. This repeats itself until the person doesn’t even pay attention to their sin. It becomes a bad habit — a habit of sin. Then comes the next step downward: lack of perseverance and commitment. Here is where commitment is redefined. This is where it is easier for a person to walk out rather than to work things out. It is as if any level of pain means the commitment or relationship couldn’t be from the Lord. There is no stick-to-it-ness. Kind of like the person who says “I’ll go to church when I feel like going.” They will only go when there is a special speaker or exciting event. A person at this stage is not really committed to anything or anybody except on a very shallow level. This results in a person having a lack of meaning or purpose . These people roam aimlessly and don’t commit to anything outside of their own pursuit of self-preservation and escape. They are the ones who simply stay home and watch TV for hours on end. Many take drugs or drink alcohol to escape real life. They want to escape reality and live in a world of make believe. If you live your life without the fear of God and without accountability, you will be living your life without purpose and meaning. John Witherspoon, a minister and founding Father of the United States of America, once said: “It is only the fear of God that can deliver us from the fear of man.” 20

We need a generation of courageous Christians who are unmoved by peoples’ opinions of their high godly standards.
