E. Delighting In the Lord (Psalm 37:4-6; Proverbs 10:24; Mark 11:24) Many people want the Lord to do certain things for them — to grant them the desires of their hearts. Yet the Word of God says that our first priority is to delight ourselves in the Lord. Our main ambition as born-again Christians is to delight in the Lord, then He will give us the desires of our heart (Psalm 37:4). Jesus Christ needs to become our magnificent obsession, our all in all. He needs to captivate us in every area of our lives. Our chief goal is to intimately know Him, to be found in Him, and to delight in Him alone. Hannah in 1 Samuel 1 and 2. Something very special happened when Hannah prayed. She was a barren woman who did not have purpose in her life outside her delight and responsibility of her husband, and she desired to have a child. One day when she was praying, the Lord heard her prayer, and Hannah became pregnant. She gave birth to a baby boy, who was one of the greatest prophets of all time. His name was Samuel. It was through prayer — humble and unselfish — that the Lord granted her desires. Just as Samuel was birthed through selfless prayer and deep intercession, so too can your vision and life purpose be birthed through this type of prayer. Intercession aids in the birthing of God’s purposes in your life. Prayer sustains and leads to the fulfilment of your vision and purpose. F.
