God's Prophetic People - A People of Passion, Purpose And Power

God's Prophetic People

purpose. You cannot separate Christ and His Church, and you cannot separate Christians and the Church. In his book Destined for the Throne , Paul E. Billheimer states: God created the universe to bring about planet Earth. He placed planet Earth in the Milky Way galaxy and here in this solar system to put man upon it. God created Earth for man, and put man on it. God brought forth the human race, to 2000 years later bring forth the Abrahamic or Jewish race that would be a Messianic lineage to bring forth the Messiah. He brought forth the Messiah to bring redemption to mankind. And Jesus came to produce the Church, and the Church was what God was after all along. 11 God’s main business is the Church. There is no other cre- ation destined for the destiny of the Church. We who are part of God’s Church are called to be joint heirs with Christ. You are the Bride of Christ. You are the apple of His eye. Neither angels nor cherubim nor seraphim have this high of a calling. The Church is God’s instrument through which He will accomplish His desired purposes. The Church has divine destiny and a spe- cial purpose to fulfill. And Christ Himself will bring about this purpose. Matthew states this very clearly in chapter sixteen verse eighteen: “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

“ I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH ”

Jesus is personally going to commit Himself to building His Church .

I

This speaks of the sovereign will of God. Christ’s will to do this indicates a determination to not only produce this Church, but also to mature His Church regardless of time or effort. This suggests that it is going to be a lengthy, drawn-out process. Building requires planning, blue prints, labor, tools, and progressive stages. The Church of Jesus Christ is still being built today. This is a clear statement that the Church is Christ’s personal property. The Church is God’s pride and possession. It is that for which Christ died. It is the Church which Christ purchased with His own blood. Here it is where Christ makes a distinction between that which is common and that which is very special. The Church is comprised of a people who are uniquely called out by God. The apple of His eye. His treasured possession/people.
